Will there be Audience Choice Award voting?


All films are eligible for an Audience Choice Award through November 20th.. Once you've completed viewing the film, you'll be able to cast your vote by rating the film. On the virtual screening page below the player you will see ratings scaled from 1 (poor) to 10 ( excellent). Click your score to cast your vote. Only one vote per account will be counted.




Where and when can I see the Award Winners Announcement?


Audience Choice Award winners will be announced live during the awards ceremony on November 22nd, then posted on the YoFiFest.com website and on social media the following week.





PASSES & TICKETS

How do I purchase passes and tickets?


Full Festival Passes and Ticket Bundles can be purchased on the Passes page. Individual tickets can be purchased directly from the film's page on the Film Guide. If you have any problems, our ticketing platform Eventive is offering tech support through their live chat function at the bottom of their Help Page HERE. PLEASE NOTE that ALL technical support problems will be handled directly through Eventive, and not by YoFiFest. But don't worry, they are super smart, super nice, and super helpful!




How do I find a film after I've unlocked or pre-ordered it?


Check your inbox for the order confirmation email and click the “watch now” button. Or visit the festival's Film Guide and click the film's poster/image, which will take you to the page for the screening. If you’re logged into your Eventive account and already ordered a ticket for that film, you will have the option to “watch now” from the virtual screening page.




Can I transfer passes to someone else?


If you have multiple passes in your account, you can assign them to different people by clicking the gear icon to the right and then clicking Transfer Pass. You will need the email address of the person you are transferring the pass to. Once you submit the form, the recipient will receive an email with a link that will allow them to accept the transfer and add the pass to their account. Until they accept the transfer, the pass will remain in your account. Once they accept, the pass will permanently disappear from your account unless the recipient transfers it back to you. The recipient will then have to activate their account.




Can I select films I'm interested in watching later?


Yes! You can "star" all the films you're interested in to save for later. 1. Go to the festival's Film Guide
2. Log into your account.
3. Browse the Film Guide to see all the films in the festival.
4. Click the "Star" button in the top right corner of any film you are interested in.
5. Click the "My Starred Films" at the top right of the menu on that same page to see the films you have starred.




How do I use the “Add to Calendar” feature?


It's easy to add a film link as an event to your personal calendar as a way to create your own festival schedule. Go to the festival's Film Guide and make sure you're logged in. Browse the films and click on the one you're interested in. If you'd like to add to your calendar, click on the "Select a Showing" button At the bottom of the page, beneath the film's details description, you’ll find the "Add To Calendar" button. You can set a date and time to whenever you plan to watch the movie and even set a reminder for your phone or email.




Can I give someone a ticket as a gift?


Yes! It's easy to redeem vouchers from your 5-Ticket Bundle or 10-Ticket Bundle to give a virtual film screening or workshop to someone else as a gift. Just go to the program's page in the Film Guide or Virtual Festival, click "Give as gift", which appears right below the Pre-Order/Unlock button. You will be prompted to enter the recipient's email address, and an email will be sent directly to that recipient with a link for them to unlock the film.




Where can I find my passes and tickets?


Make sure you are logged in to Eventive at https://yofifest2020.eventive.org/welcome. If you're not logged in, click "Log In" in the upper right corner of the screen. If you are logged in, click the Ticket icon for "My Tickets".




After I purchase a ticket or pass, how do I access the festival?


After your purchase, Eventive automatically emails a pass or ticket confirmation with instructions on how to unlock your film and Q&A/panel selections. If you did not receive it, please check your email spam folder. If the email is not in your spam folder, then try logging in under the same email address or Facebook login you used to purchase your screening. If you still have problems, Eventive is offering support through their live chat function at the bottom of their Help Page HERE




How do my passes and tickets work?


The Full Festival Pass, 10-Ticket Bundle, 5-Ticket Bundle and an Individual Ticket allow you to unlock a film one time and are automatically linked to your account on Eventive. After you unlock a program, please note the amount of time you have to push play on that particular film. Once you push play you will have 24 hours to complete the screening.

Can I watch films on different devices?


Yes! You can watch films using Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV, phone, PC, Mac, desktop, notebook, tablet, and other devices. Information about device compatibility and tips and tricks for your virtual screening experience can be found directly from Eventive HERE




Can I check to make sure my device is compatible?


Yes! Click HERE and Eventive will run a compatibility test to make sure your device is compatible with their streaming.




If I have problems, is tech support available?

How do I watch a filmmaker talkback after the live stream is over?


Go to the Eventive Virtual Festival site and click "Live Streams" at the top of the page. Talkbacks that have already occurred will be available on-demand until November 22nd.




Do films have closed captioning?


Select films offer descriptive Closed Captions for greater accessibility. If a film offers Closed Captions, you will see a message under the film description on the right side of the screening page that says "Closed captions available" To turn on Closed Captioning, begin watching the film and click on the “CC” button on the bottom right of the Video Playback Menu.




How do I watch films on my Roku?


Search for “Eventive TV” in the Channel Store on your Roku. Once you have installed the app on your Roku, open it and follow the instructions to log in. Next, scroll to the “YoFi Fest” channel to begin watching films. All of your unlocked content will be available. If a program has not already been unlocked, you will need to unlock it on another device (such as a laptop or mobile device) first. Please note that live streams are currently not available via the Roku TV app. You can cast them from another device to your TV.




How do I watch the films on my Chromecast or smart TV?


If you have a Chromecast device (3rd generation or later) you can cast your films from Chrome on your computer or Android phone to your Smart TV. To Chromecast from your Android mobile device: • Make sure your mobile phone or tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device. • Tap the “Cast” icon in the lower right hand corner of the player. If no icon appears, this means casting is not supported on your device. To Chromecast from your computer: • Open the content in the Google Chrome browser. • Click the “Cast” icon in the lower right hand corner of the player. If no icon appears, this means casting is not supported on your device.




How do I watch films on my Apple TV?


Download the “Eventive TV” app from the Apple TV App Store (accessible via your TV.) You must have at least a fourth generation Apple TV to access the App Store. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll see an activation code. On another device, please navigate to watch.eventive.org/tv, then log in (if necessary) and use the code provided to connect your account. Next, scroll to the “YoFi Fest” channel on the Eventive Apple TV app to begin watching. All of your unlocked content will be available. If a program has not already been unlocked, you will need to unlock it on another device (such as a laptop or mobile device) first. Please note that live streams are currently not available via the Apple TV app. You can AirPlay them from another device to your TV.




Can I watch the films over a VPN connection?


Eventive’s content protection protocol does not allow VPN access. You can watch the films by disabling your VPN and connecting directly.




I bought the movie and now it is telling me to unlock it again.


Please confirm that you are logged in with the same email address or Facebook login you used to purchase the film. You can log in using the login link at the upper right corner of the screen, or if you are not logged in at all you’ll be prompted to login after clicking “unlock now.”




How do I know if a virtual film is available in my region?


Almost all the films are available for viewers worldwide! Select films are available only to viewers in the United States or certain states. These "geofences" will be indicated below the main image on each film's info page. The films' geofences have been determined at the request of the filmmakers.




What do I do if the video or audio have problems?


Here's a list of solutions for various devices that should help fix playback issues: • Make sure you have a fast and stable internet connection. You can check your internet speed here. Standard quality for playback requires at least 8 Mbps. •If you are using AirPlay, try connecting from an iPhone or iPad rather than a laptop. •If you are using Chromecast, make sure your device and Chromecast are on the same wifi network. •Restart your computer or device, and TV. •Reboot your internet modem and/or wireless router. •Log out of Eventive and then log back in. I'm having problems streaming from my computer.


Here are a couple things you can try: • Confirm that you are not on a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Eventive's content protection protocol does not allow VPN access. • Are you logged into the correct account? Please check your login status at the upper right-hand corner of the Eventive window. If you are logged in, you will see a circle with the initials of the account holder. • Try clearing your browser's cache and restarting it. Please also make sure you are using the latest, up to date version of a supported browser. • Disable any ad-blocking software, browser extensions and/or plugins + add ons as some of these are known to interfere with website functionality. Once done, close and reopen your browser and try visiting our website again. • If you are plugged into your TV via HDMI connection, try unplugging and replugging in the HDMI cable. • Restart your wireless router or modem. GENERAL

When are films available to watch?


You can begin watching the Virtual Festival films at 12:01AM EST on October 23, and they will be available through 11:59PM EDT on November 20. You may pre-order films and events before October 23, and you will receive an email notification when they are available to watch. Please check the schedule for live events, such as the filmmaker talkbacks, workshops, and the Audience Choice Awards ceremony.




How long do I have to watch a movie?


When you purchase a movie, you will see an indication of how long you have to start watching below the “watch now” button on the film page. Once you press play, you'll have 24 hours to view the movie. After you’ve started watching, the indication will change to show you how much time is left to finish. The festival ends at 11:59 PM EDT on November 20, so plan accordingly.




What does "VOD" or "on demand" mean?


VOD is an abbreviation for "video on demand", which means you can view a movie at any time you choose.




What does "live stream" mean?


Live streaming is when a live event is sent over the Internet in real time at a scheduled time and date. It is often interactive, so the audience can ask questions during the program.




Is my information secure?


All customer payment info is submitted securely to payment processor, Stripe, using the most stringent, PCI Level 1 compliant security protocols. Eventive and YoFi Fest do not store any sensitive customer credit card details.
You may request that your payment information be un-linked from your account by choosing the “account settings” link at the upper right while logged into your Eventive account. Eventive and YoFi Fest do not share personal information with any third parties without your explicit consent. All personal information is subject to the Eventive Privacy Policy, which you can learn about here and the YoFi Fest data privacy policty which you can view here.




Can people watch the films with me?


Watching films with other people is great, so you can absolutely share the festival with people in your household and watch together on the same screen! If they'd like, they can make a donation to help us cover the streaming fees here, but that is totally up to them. If you would like to invite a friend or family member outside of your household to watch a film, please encourage them to purchase a pass  or buy a ticket so they can watch it on their schedule from the comfort and safety of their home. Remember, one big reason we're having a virtual festival is so that people can practice propper social distanceing, so please make safe decisions!




How do I activate my Eventive account?


Before you can start watching, you will need to activate your Eventive account linked to your pass or ticket. If you purchased a pass, locate your pass confirmation email. The subject line is: Pass order confirmation - YoFi Fest From the confirmation email, you should see a link to access your account. You can also login to your account at https://yofifest2020.eventive.org/login If you don't remember your password, you can also reset it there. After logging in, view your passes by clicking the pass icon in the upper right corner. If you see Details Needed in red, see steps below for setting up or transferring passes. Once you are logged in and your pass information is updated, your account has been activated. Now, you are ready to start watching. Click Watch Now to access the virtual festival or visit https://watch.eventive.org/yofifest2020




Do the non-English language films have subtitles?


The films not in English will automatically have English subtitles on all viewing platforms.




What does a "virtual festival" mean?


It means that this year we're presenting our films online starting in October and live online events running from November 7th through 22nd. You have the flexibility of watching the films “on demand” to fit your schedule, on your choice of device, and from the convenience, comfort and safety of your home. To do this, YoFiFest has partnered with Eventive, an industry-leading streaming film festival platform, to host all of our 2020 festival films and filmmaker talkbacks on a customized platform.
